Thrillist is teaming up with Pepsi to bring you the Fouraquare Mayor Pool Party. Celebrate the end of Internet Week with a check-in at the VIP Pool Party on the rooftop of the Thomson LES Hotel at the Mayors Pool Party, this Friday.
The event is by invitation-only, a private party, except for 50 VIP tickets that will be given away to the Foursquare mayors of select Pepsi Pour venues in NYC — from Katz’s Deli to Hotel Gansevoort. More venues to be announced, so check back often.
If you happen to be one of the lucky ones that is the mayor of one of these select locations on Friday morning, you’ll be notified of your invite by Friday afternoon via email.
It’s pretty cool to see brands start to offer special rewards via Foursquare. I might have to bite the bullet and join…

Digital customer loyalty program launches app called Pepsi Loot that maps Pepsi-serving locations and rewards customers for checking in (that sign-in is done separately from a Foursquare check-in) with awards such as music downloads.
200K participating restaurants like Taco Bell will partner in the effort. Menus will be displayed via the app, and individual restaurants can choose to offer their own discounts — Shakey’s is giving $3 off a large pizza for people who show the Pepsi Loot app, for instance.
Separately, Pepsi’s Foursquare program is set to start running in June. While the company is still working out details, the idea is that when a Foursquare user is near a Pepsi retailer, an offer to enroll the person in a Pepsi rewards system will appear. Once people are enrolled, whenever they check in at a grocery store or drugstore selling Pepsi, they will accumulate rewards points or badges that they can redeem for products or offers or donate toward charities.

Pepsi has come out with an iPhone app called “AMP UP Before You Score” that offers to help guys “get lucky” with 24 different “types” of women — and then brag about it.
For each type of girl, a guy can get a crib sheet of info, pickup lines, and more to help him “know what makes her tick before you open your mouth, so she’ll like what she hears when you do,” according to the iTunes description.
Following the outpouring of criticism that greeted the release of the app, Pepsi and AMP offered an apology over Twitter to irate consumers. AMPwhatsnext wrote:
Our app tried 2 show the humorous lengths guys go 2 pick up women. We apologize if it’s in bad taste & appreciate your feedback. #pepsifail
The “AMP UP Before Your Score” app, which was released to promote Pepsi’s AMP energy drink, presents hopeful guys with cartoon drawings of each of the female “types.”
Among the 24 types, there’s the “Rebound Girl” who’s got mascara tear-tracks and clutches a a carton of ice cream, the “Aspiring Actress” who’s dressed like a waitress, the “Artist” who’s pictured chewing on a paintbrush, and 21 more, including “Married,” “Twins,” “Women’s Studies Major,” “Cougar,” and “Foreign Exchange Student.”

Pepsi has launched a series of ads that might prove themselves to be very controversial. The product, PepsiMax, has only one calorie. The ads to promote it took on the theme of “one is the loneliest number” and a sole cartoonish calorie is depicted commiting suicide in various ways.
Click here to read more. How long do you think these ads will stay live? Will Pepsi pull the plug?
