Atari will help the Weinstein Co. make “Project Runway” a little more realistic for fans with a videogame version set to bow next year.
Series host Heidi Klum and fashion expert Tim Gunn are expected to be involved in the game, but details are still being worked out. Sponsors that are integrated into the series may also appear in the game.
The licensing deal calls for a series of “Project Runway” games to be created, with the first to launch on Nintendo’s Wii, which will utilize the console’s Wii Remote Controller and Balance Board.
First game hits store shelves next spring.
The game will largely follow of the format of the TV show, with players competing as aspiring fashion designers and presented with different challenges as they create designs and outfit models with hair, makeup and accessories. Players can then become the model and strut their creations down the runway using the Wii Balance Board or take on the role of a fashion photographer and document their designs.

This Sunday, Nintendo will be slashing the price on their popular Wii game system to $199.99 from the original $249.99 price tag. It will maintain its bundle of the Wii Sports video game, one controller, a Nunchuk controller add-on and wireless sensor bar, so consumers will get a better value for their buck this time around.
The reason behind the cut surprisingly isn’t the challenging economic climate, but rather part of the company’s growth mission. Nintendo of America president, Reggie Fils-Aime, thinks there is minimally 50 million consumers in the U.S. that they can get into gaming by offering more value to these potential gamers. And they will be giving these consumers the chance to try out Nintendo video games at numerous scheduled events across the country leading up to the holiday season. I know personally I have been debating purchasing a Wii for the past several months, and this price drop just might be reason enough for me to finally jump on the Wii bandwagon, especially with the New Super Mario Bros. Wii game launching on November 15th!

At the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) convention Microsoft and Sony gave Nintendo a run for its money by unveiling prototype motion controllers for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. It’s not surprising that both companies have moved to mimic the Nintendo Wii, as this gaming console has become very popular.
Xbox’s controller, named “project Natal” combines a camera, depth sensor, microphone and processor running proprietary software to end the need for any button-mashing device. Microsoft said the controller can track players’ full body movements, recognize their faces and voices, scan images of real items and respond to both physical and vocal commands.
Sony’s wand-shaped motion controller has a light-emitting sphere on the end that can be “seen” by the PlayStation Eye camera. The unnamed device was demonstrated with minimalist software that transformed it on-screen into objects such as a sword, flashlight, whip and gun with one-to-one motion control.
It will be very interesting to see if these new products live up to the hype and how Nintendo will respond, if they choose to do so.

Confirming weeks of speculation, Microsoft has officially announced the Zune HD. The specs — a 3.3 inch OLED touchscreen, the ability to output in HD, an HD Radio receiver, a full-screen web browser and built-in Wi-Fi — are pretty impressive, but perhaps the most exciting tidbit is that the Zune marketplace will be fully integrated into Xbox and Xbox Live as a replacement for the current Live video service.
This is a huge step for Microsoft, who until now have kept the Zune and Xbox brands on opposite side of the room. With one move, they’ll be exposing the Zune to about 17 million customers who are already using a piece of Microsoft hardware. Moreover, those 17 million are also gamers, and the Zune HD’s combination of touchscreen capability, Wi-Fi access and robust marketplace seems the perfect recipe for a move into the handheld gaming space.
Microsoft will be unveiling the system with a presentation at next week’s E3 gaming convention in Los Angeles, noting that “attendees will see firsthand how Zune integrates into Xbox LIVE to create a game-changing entertainment experience.”
