Booty Reader

Let Old Navy read yo’ booty…. to help you find the perfect pair of jeans of course!! Visitors to the microsite are prompted to choose three scenarios in which they would wear the jeans they’re looking for (on a date, lounging at home, to the office on a Casual Friday, etc.), and then to use a web cam or photo so that the app can gauge their body shape. Women who are too uncomfortable to use a photo can choose diagrams to inform the app about their proportions.

Hello Baby - So That’s What You Look Like Today

Posted by Christie Chiappetta on 29th April 2010

Pampers recently debuted a clever iPad app for expectant mothers called, Hello Baby. The app is available for free on iTunes and lets users track the weekly progress of their unborn baby as it develops in the womb, from week 4 to 40, giving insightful information about the fetus’s current development and what mom can expect from week to week. The content is taken from the current Pampers Village online community site. What’s really cool is expecting moms can hold up the iPad in front of their bellies to get a richly detailed view of a typical, life-size representation of the baby at any give week on the high-def, multitouch screen to share the experience with their family and friends. You can even view close ups of the little hands, feet, and listen to what a heartbeat might sound like. Pretty cool use of the device, taking advantage of the quality image projections and larger scale screen.

GQ available on the iPhone

Posted by nfarsun on 21st October 2009

Conde Nast is introducing a slick platform for selling, displaying and enhancing its titles’ regular print issues on the iPhone and iPod Touch. Issues rendered for the iPhone screen will sell as apps, starting with this December’s issue of GQ, priced at $2.99 in the app store.

Users will be able to see every page as it appears in print as well as renderings of all the content tailored for display on the small screen. They will also be able to watch related videos, hear audio and visit advertisers’ sites without leaving the app.

It’s a potentially significant step in print publishers’ efforts to make something positive out of digital media. For one thing, the iPhone app puts Conde in position to play on new e-readers and tablets, the company said today. “If you can get here, you’re ready to go there,” President-CEO Charles H. Townsend said in a presentation to reporters. “That’s what this is about.”

This could pave the way for other magazine titles to follow suit, and could be pretty interesting.

Amp Up Before You Score

Posted by nfarsun on 14th October 2009

Pepsi has come out with an iPhone app called “AMP UP Before You Score” that offers to help guys “get lucky” with 24 different “types” of women — and then brag about it.

For each type of girl, a guy can get a crib sheet of info, pickup lines, and more to help him “know what makes her tick before you open your mouth, so she’ll like what she hears when you do,” according to the iTunes description.

Following the outpouring of criticism that greeted the release of the app, Pepsi and AMP offered an apology over Twitter to irate consumers. AMPwhatsnext wrote:

Our app tried 2 show the humorous lengths guys go 2 pick up women. We apologize if it’s in bad taste & appreciate your feedback. #pepsifail

The “AMP UP Before Your Score” app, which was released to promote Pepsi’s AMP energy drink, presents hopeful guys with cartoon drawings of each of the female “types.”

Among the 24 types, there’s the “Rebound Girl” who’s got mascara tear-tracks and clutches a a carton of ice cream, the “Aspiring Actress” who’s dressed like a waitress, the “Artist” who’s pictured chewing on a paintbrush, and 21 more, including “Married,” “Twins,” “Women’s Studies Major,” “Cougar,” and “Foreign Exchange Student.”

YOWZA!! NEW iPHONE APP - MARKETERS MUST SEE

Posted by sourceu30 on 15th April 2009

Yowza!!Yowza!!

Want an app that makes shopping easier? This new iPhone app points you toward the deals and steals at your favorite retailers.

Yowza!! is a mobile coupon app. It’s different because it’s tailored to your location. Yowza!! uses your iPhone’s GPS to deliver deals that are relevant to your location.

You choose your radius — 1 mile, 5 miles, 15 miles — and Yowza!! shows you what retailers in your area are offering deals and steals exclusively through the app. So you walk into the mall and you open up the app and you see what the current exclusive sales are.

So easy!

Yowza!! then generates a coupon, and there’s no printing involved. When you are done shopping, you check out as usual; open the app on your phone, click the relevant coupon, and the clerk scans the barcode, from your phone, and you score the discount.

Yowza!! cofounder Greg Grunberg, says “Yowza!! will save you money everywhere you spend, with everything you buy,”. Current participating retailers include Target, Guitar Center, Children’s Place, Finish Line, Islands Restaurants, and the Container Store; Yowza!! is in talks with Forever 21, Victoria’s Secret, and Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf.

Currently, deals through Yowza!! are only available in store, but Grunberg says they are hoping to offer an online component in the future. But shopping in an actual store is okay, especially in this economy, he argues. “That’s the whole idea: we need to be in the stores spending, and retailers need to be offering incredible deals.” If you can use your iPhone to find those deals, so much the better.

Yowza!! isn’t just another way for big chains to reach consumers, though; any retailer, no matter how small, can participate. The hope, Grunberg says, is that small boutiques will join and will be able to compete with larger box stores by offering comparable — or better — deals through the app. Owners of boutiques or other small retail businesses can go directly to the Yowza!! website and get their deals included in the app, for a small fee. It’s a win-win for local businesses: local consumers who might overlook your shop will see it on their phone, right next to the big chains — if your deal is as good or better than theirs, you’re a winner. “It levels the playing field,” Grunberg says, and in the post-WalMart world, the ability to find local retailers is an added bonus for community-minded shoppers and local businesses alike.

Make your iPhone work for you the next time you’re shopping. Yowza!! is available at the Apple store — and it’s free.
