Posted by cfox on 29th October 2009

Hebrew National is offering free hot dogs the next time a uniformed pro U.S. football player eats a hot dog during a game this season. The ConAgra brand is starting the program by offering a free hot dog to all who attended last weekend’s Oakland game in which Jets QB Mark Sanchez scarfed down a dog on the sidelines. To participate, consumers will have to have attended the U.S. pro football game where a uniformed player is televised eating a hot dog during a game this season.

Hot & Toasty Sweepstakes

Posted by cfox on 26th October 2009

To launch its $5 Double Cheese Cheesesteak Sub, Quiznos is using a “hybrid” approach that employs the Web and social media to encourage consumers to engage with its TV commercial.

The QSR created an online sweepstakes (at QuiznosToaster.com) that requires using “hidden clues” in the commercial to answer trivia questions and thereby qualify for the chance to win prizes.

Quiznos also posted the commercial video in the “Quiznos Toaster” profile pages on YouTube and Facebook, encouraging consumers to pause and replay it to find the clues, and is tweeting about the contest on Twitter (@QuiznosToaster). Providing an email address is part of the registration process for entering the sweeps.

The Face of Success

Posted by sourceu30 on 23rd October 2009

Remington is launching a new campaign called “The Face of Success,” an online grooming game that allows users to experiment with different hair and grooming styles. The avatars that players create and groom can test out their new styles on virtual women to see what pickup lines–and what looks–get them the best response.  Play the game here!

Players can also enter the Face of Success sweepstakes for a chance to win a trip to Vegas, including luxury transportation and hotel accommodations, a VIP dining/entertainment package, and $4,000 in spending (gambling) money.

Will this campaign get the same response as AMP’s “Before You Score” iPhone app?

GQ available on the iPhone

Posted by nfarsun on 21st October 2009

Conde Nast is introducing a slick platform for selling, displaying and enhancing its titles’ regular print issues on the iPhone and iPod Touch. Issues rendered for the iPhone screen will sell as apps, starting with this December’s issue of GQ, priced at $2.99 in the app store.

Users will be able to see every page as it appears in print as well as renderings of all the content tailored for display on the small screen. They will also be able to watch related videos, hear audio and visit advertisers’ sites without leaving the app.

It’s a potentially significant step in print publishers’ efforts to make something positive out of digital media. For one thing, the iPhone app puts Conde in position to play on new e-readers and tablets, the company said today. “If you can get here, you’re ready to go there,” President-CEO Charles H. Townsend said in a presentation to reporters. “That’s what this is about.”

This could pave the way for other magazine titles to follow suit, and could be pretty interesting.
