There’s nothing like giving away something for free to grab attention, especially in today’s economy! Last week Denny’s first aired that they would be running a promotion to give away free Grand Slam breakfasts ($5.99 value) at their restaurant on February 4th between 6am and 2pm, and people listened. Lines snaked around the nationwide restaurant chain all morning the day of the promotion, and Denny’s estimates they served approximately 1,400 Grand Slams at each of their 1,541 locations (a whopping 2,157,400 breakfasts!). This was FIVE TIMES their normal patron volume. Check out the following article from CNN to see why the SuperBowl ad touting a free breakfast may help increase Denny’s overall market share in the fastfood segment - Denny’s free breakfast grand slam

Introducing Live Kick - a concert calendar app with music library integration, and ticket search engine…. aka a hard core music fans dream. Live Kick is an iConcert Cal meets Kayak tool. To get started (you have to register and create an account), you provide the application with your city and zip code, then upload your iTunes library (or Pandora / online radio / MySpace account / etc.) and within minutes your calendar will be filled with local music concernts and events from musicians you know and love, and to musicians you are unfamiliar with, but are suggested by Live Kick based on your taste in music from your iTunes library.
When you see a concert listing you like, the application will then search the web to bring you the best deal out there. It will search sites like TIcketmaster, StubHub, and eBay.
And if that ain’t easy, it will even send the matching concert info straight to you via RSS/Twitter, OR you can get updates through a downloadable widget. Rock on.
